Our Vision
Investing in new, sustainable retirement homes
A third-party care home provider closed their care facility at Avonpark in 2021. The closure left a void at the heart of the village, with empty buildings now decaying. It means we now need to invest in the development to ensure it offers the best facilities to meet the needs of both current and future residents.
We’ve submitted plans to Wiltshire Council to enhance our retirement community. Our plan will address the current issues by providing a high-quality retirement community for generations to come. We are seeking permission to:
- Replace the vacant 85-bed care buildings with 74 sustainable new retirement apartments.
- Implement high-quality design, with the style and materials inspired by local architectural character.
- Create modern communal facilities for residents, including but not limited to a shop, restaurant, bar, residents lounge with social spaces, multipurpose craft room, library, studio, wellbeing therapy/treatment room, salon, lounge and staff offices.
- Deliver extensive, diverse landscaping, including a courtyard, quiet garden, physic garden, growing zone (including allotments and edible gardens) and an official size croquet lawn, alongside new outdoor seating and terraces.
The artist impressions provide an idea of what the community will look like once complete.
The full set of detailed plans for the community can be viewed on Wiltshire Council’s website here. We expect the council to consider the application in summer 2024.
